Baari

About us

Baari in eastern India means our backyards, fashionably called the kitchen garden in the west. Today living in multi storeys, our villages have become our backyards. And there, our farmers are forced to use chemicals to increase their yields. Baari has been the journey of convincing them to use farm made composts, pesticides and growth nutrients. The result is here for you to taste and certify.

Why did we start this?

We want to make organic trustworthy. In order to do so, we work with small, traditional farmers. They preserve last year’s desi seeds, make their own jeevamrit (pesticide) and use fermented buttermilk, neem, ash & other traditional fertilizer. There are some who haven’t gone wholly organic but have drastically diminished the use of pesticides on their soil.

We use Zero Budget Natural Farming

It is a sustainable farming method that emphasises cultivating crops in harmony with the environment. The Indian government is using this method under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) to nurture organic farming in our country. Our Self Help Group has the ZBNF certification.

Our Vision

Our Vision is – Food for Health. We want to improve our health one meal at a time. It can happen when we reclaim the soil slowly but effectively. This will take patience & consistency. But as we all know; the fruit of patience is sweet.
